Your Baby Can Read (post #3)

As I mentioned in my last post about Your Baby Can Read, Malaki really seems to be learning from the videos. It’s actually a little crazy.  He asks to “watch school”  three or four times a day. (But we usually only watch twice.)

I had been attempting to have him sit in the living room and watch.  But, even though he loves to have the videos on, he gets really distracted.  So, this week I’ve been putting him in his highchair with some cereal, fruit snacks, milk or juice (basically just something to keep his hands busy) and it’s working! He’s been a little more focused this way.

*For those who might say, “Why torture the poor boy? Just let him be distracted.”  – He loves it! Plus, I’m trying to teach him to be still and listen for more than just school purposes.

He just started the second dvd. I was really surprised when I got out his new flashcards and he already knew some of the words: “giraffe” and “point.”

Cora loves the songs.

Malaki can read these words:

  • elephant
  • tiger
  • dog
  • cats
  • giraffe
  • chimpanzee
  • hi
  • Malaki
  • keys
  • point
  • gorilla
  • kick

And he’s close on several more (wave, nose, mouth, eyes, diaper).  I’ll keep you posted!
